Compress images without uploading

You can compress JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and HEIC files in this tab. PixShrink reads the image on your device, shrinks it locally, and offers a download. Nothing is sent to a server for compression.

That matters for screenshots of documents, client photos, and iPhone camera-roll shots. If the encoded file is not smaller, the original is kept — except HEIC, which is always converted to a format other apps can open.

How to compress in the browser

  1. Step 1

    Open the compressor

Go to the PixShrink home page. There is no sign-in. The page is the tool.

  2. Step 2

Drop JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, or HEIC files

Use the box or Choose files. You can add up to 20 images, 40 MB each. Files stay in memory here.

  3. Step 3

Tune quality, longest edge, or a social size

Start around 75% quality. Cap the longest edge at 1920px, or pick a YouTube / Instagram preset and drag the crop preview to an exact frame. Match original keeps the same format.

  4. Step 4

    Download locally

Check the before and after sizes. Save the smaller file to your computer or phone. Close the tab and the originals leave with it.

What “on your device” means

When you pick an image, this tab reads it with local file APIs. Compression and preview happen on your computer or phone. Closing the tab discards the bytes unless you downloaded a result.

The site still loads ordinary page files (layout, scripts, codec binaries). Your photos are not among those requests.

When this workflow fits

Use it when you do not want a file sitting on an upload queue: a passport scan, a work mockup, or a family photo from camera roll.

If the tab struggles, try fewer files, a lower longest-edge cap, or a smaller source. Phones are stricter than desktops.
